Visit to GibMed International Hospital and Specialist Medical Clinic
In recent days, representatives of the Prostate Cancer Gibraltar Committee attended a meeting at the GibMed International Hospital – Specialist Medical Clinic, located at the ICC Building in Gibraltar following their kind invitation.
The group were welcomed by Dr David Deardon, General Surgeon and Managing Director of the Specialist Medical Group Ltd, and Patrick Shaw, Business Development Manager. The purpouse of the meeting was to familiarise the Prostate Cancer Gibraltar Committee with the facilities available and to strengthen the collaboration between GibMed and Prostate Cancer Gibraltar.
During the visit, Dr Deardon gave the Committee a comprehensive tour of the facilities, highlighting the advanced medical technology and patient-centred services available within the hospital. The Committee were very impressed with the professionalism and scope of the facilities, as well as with the enthusiasm shown by the GibMed team to support prostate cancer awareness initiatives.
Discussions included the subject of MRI prostate screening for men over the age of 50. Considerations such as cost and GHA support would naturally play an important role in future planning.
