Prostate Cancer Gibraltar

Salutes

Manolo Ruiz

Prostate Cancer Gibraltar was shocked and saddened when we heard that Manolo Ruiz had passed away, after a short illness at the age of 88.

Manolo has been described as the ‘indefatigable champion of the elderly’ and indeed he was, as for many years he dedicated his time to improving the quality of lives of elderly citizens, with great passion, commitment, and success.

Manolo was appointed a Trustee of Prostate Cancer Gibraltar when the Charity was launched over 10 years ago and he undertook his role with great dignity and success. In fact, he was someone who pressed others at the time that Prostate Cancer Gibraltar should be formed as a registered Charity, as he felt that there was a crying need to support the many sufferers of prostate cancer in Gibraltar.

Manolo was always supportive of the initiatives undertaken by the Charity and most important always supported members that needed help in coping with this illness. As recently as late November, just before Manolo became ill, he spent the whole morning offering support to the Charity at Casemates, during the awareness campaign.

Unfortunately, Gibraltar has lost a genuinely warm and remarkable person, who shall be missed.

Our condolences to his wife Violet, his son Ken, daughter-in-law, and grandsons.

Prostate Cancer salutes Manolo and thanks him for his loyalty and support.
