Polar Bear Swim 2024: A Chilly Splash for a Worthy Cause

This morning, the shores of Catalan Bay came alive as various supporters of Prostate Cancer Gibraltar took the plunge for the annual Polar Bear Swim.

Led by PCG Committee Member Nicholas Peliza, the group braved the cold and wavy waters in an inspiring show of support for the cause.

The conditions were anything but easy—the fierce and relentless waves constantly broke against the swimmers, challenging their balance and resolve. Despite this, their determination shone through, showcasing their commitment to raising awareness and funds for prostate cancer.

This year’s swim had a unique twist due to the rising sea levels. Much of the beach had disappeared under the encroaching tide, spreading participants across the bay rather than gathering at the southern end as in previous years. This change only added to the excitement of the event.

Amidst the chilly water and crashing waves, a great time was had by all.

Thank you to everyone who participated in aid of Prostate Cancer Gibraltar and made this year’s Polar Bear Swim another memorable success.
