A special evening in support of men’s health

The Gibraltar Insurance Institute Annual Dinner, held at the Aurora Ballroom of the Sunborn Yacht Hotel, brought together members of Gibraltar’s insurance and professional community for an evening of speeches, dinner, entertainment and fundraising.

Prostate Cancer Gibraltar was honoured to be selected as the nominated charity for the evening. Thanks to the generosity of those attending, the event raised a total of £4,880.52 in support of the charity’s ongoing work across Gibraltar.

These funds will help Prostate Cancer Gibraltar continue raising awareness, encouraging men to take PSA testing seriously, supporting men and families affected by prostate cancer, and contributing to projects that improve prostate cancer care locally.

Community fundraising with a lasting impact

Every donation helps Prostate Cancer Gibraltar continue its work within the community. The funds raised will support awareness campaigns, educational activity, patient and family support, and the charity’s ongoing efforts to encourage men to speak openly about prostate health and PSA testing.

Joe Holliday and Paul Buxton share the message of early detection

During the evening, Joe Holliday addressed guests on behalf of Prostate Cancer Gibraltar, speaking about the charity’s work, the importance of PSA testing and the need to keep conversations about prostate cancer open and visible.

Joe reminded those present that prostate cancer can often develop without obvious symptoms. This is why men over 50 are encouraged to check their PSA and continue doing so regularly.

Paul Buxton also shared his personal experience following his prostate cancer diagnosis and his journey through pioneering robotic surgery in Gibraltar. His words helped bring home the human impact of early detection, medical innovation and community support.

Early detection can save lives. A simple PSA blood test can be the first step towards finding prostate cancer before symptoms appear.
