Shave-Off Day 2025 — Minister Leslie Bruzon Leads by Example for Prostate Cancer Awareness
On Saturday 29th November 2025, as part of our annual Walnut Campaign, Prostate Cancer Gibraltar organised a special Shave-Off Day at The Piazza — a moment of solidarity and commitment to men’s health in Gibraltar.
🎯 This year the event saw the return of a powerful gesture of support from Minister Leslie Bruzon, who — for the second year running — publicly shaved off his beard in support of prostate cancer awareness. His readiness to “shave it off in style” resonated deeply with everyone present and sent a strong message about the importance of early detection and open conversation around men’s health.
From 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, volunteers and supporters gathered at The Piazza. For a small registration fee of £5 (with additional donations welcomed), participants had the opportunity to shave off their moustaches or beards — each cut symbolising commitment to raising awareness and reminding men to get regular health checks.
The atmosphere was supportive and optimistic. Many joined the “Walnut Campaign” spirit, raising moustaches (or removing them) to spark conversations — often the first step toward awareness.
The presence of Minister Bruzon gave the event additional visibility and gravitas. His public act of solidarity helped draw attention to prostate cancer, inspiring others to consider checking their prostate health and encouraging families to start important conversations.

Prostate cancer remains one of the most common cancers affecting men, and early detection can significantly improve outcomes. By shaving publicly and lending his support, Minister Bruzon helped break down stigma and encouraged men across Gibraltar to take action — get tested, be aware of symptoms, and speak up.
As we highlighted at the event, the message is clear: “It’s not about shaving — it’s about saving lives.”
Prostate Cancer Gibraltar wholeheartedly thanks Minister Leslie Bruzon, all participants, volunteers, and donors who helped make Shave-Off Day 2025 a success. Your solidarity makes a real difference.
